Mama Lili’s is a wonderful place to stay. It is out in the Muong Hoa Valley on a big hill, where they farm rice and vegetables and raise chickens and ducks. The community is part of Hau Thao (Black Hmong) village but outside of the village. The views are incredible and the weather can be epic. On a clear night, the stars are also incredible.
Mama Lili and Surelee are the sweetest hosts. The whole family is kind and welcoming. The food was excellent, and we learned a lot about Hmong culture in Northern Vietnam.
We went on a couple treks with Mama Lili through Hmong villages and ‘nature trails’. I cannot recommend enough.

Staying at Mama Lili’s homestay was an absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we arrived, she treated us with incredible warmth and kindness, making us feel right at home. One of the highlights of our stay was the amazing treks she took us on, where we explored breathtaking natural landscapes that we would never have found on our own.
The food she prepared was absolutely delicious, homemade and full of local flavor, making every meal a delight. On top of that, Mama Lili went out of her way to help me organize my return bus, which made my travel plans so much smoother.
I couldn’t recommend this experience more. If you’re looking for genuine hospitality, great adventures, and incredible food, this is the place to stay!

The best 🥰 We planned one night and stayed 5. Everything (Bungalow, Food, Hikes) was VERY affordable, particularly in comparison to hikes offered in Sapa City. Every night wonderful homecooked meals made from homegrown vegetables (including the rice) and local meat and eggs. Breakfast was amazing, too. Best hikes: if you're into hiking, Mama Lili and her daughter SunJi are your guides - off the trodden path, into the forest, over the river to the waterfall - and those aren't even all of their routes.
When I ran out of Nutmilk, SunJi brought me a pack from one of her trips to Sapa. Mama Lili taught me embroidery. Such a warm, friendly athmosphere.
Most of all, we enjoyed the silence. In the morning, a small herd of waterbuffalos would walk past our terrace. Giant Butterflies. Tranquility.
The rooms are individual bungalows with a table & chairs under a sun-umbrella in front. The beds are Firma, but just sleep on the fluffy blanket and you'll be fine. The view across the mountains was perfect, we watch the sun rise & set and enjoyed the darkness of nights far from a city. We will definately come back.

Our two nights at Mama Lili's were absolutely wonderful. Mama Lili and Su Ly are two extraordinary women with whom we shared very good meals, a good amount of happy water, and a breathtaking 8-hour trekking with some of the best views we've ever seen. Cannot recommend it enough!

I had memorable stay with Su Ly and Mama Lili in Sapa. The family welcomed me with such warmth, hospitality, and generosity.
Despite the unpredictable weather, they were incredibly accommodating — adjusting plans and making sure I was always comfortable. Su Ly’s deep knowledge of the area meant I still got to explore the region through beautiful trekking routes, walking along natural paths that offered an authentic glimpse of Sapa’s stunning landscapes.
Trekking with them and staying at their homestay was an amazing experience 🙂
